I am very proud to announce the performance of a new commission from Tredegar Town Band. The piece is entitled 'Momentum', and is a thematic and musical follow on from my previous work for brass band, 'Impetus' (2022).
I was thrilled to witness the powerful sound of the band, under the steadfast direction of Ian Porthouse, as they opened their concert at the Royal Northern College of Music International Brass Band Festival with the piece.
The band's performance was exceptional, especially given the demanding nature of the piece, and the monstrous programme that followed it, including a favourite of mine, Ludovic Neurohr's 'Are We Dark Inside', and 2 numbers featuring international trumpet soloist legend, Matthias Hofs.
A recording from the brass band streaming service World of Brass is available to subscribers of their Wobplay platform. I am seeking a recording that will be more readily available.
